We are pleased to congratulate Jeremy Harrell for being appointed to the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Advisory Committee (REEEAC). REEEAC, which sits as an advisory body under the International Trade Administration of the U.S. Department of Commerce, advises the Secretary of Commerce, Gina Raimondo, regarding the development and administration of programs and policies to expand the competitiveness of U.S. exports of renewable energy and energy efficiency goods and services.

Kairos Power and Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) Team Up for Advanced Reactor Demonstration
Yesterday, Kairos Power and the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) announced a plan to work together to deploy a nuclear demonstration reactor, named Hermes, in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Deploying Hermes will help deliver a future cost-competitive commercial advanced reactor and ensure nuclear power remains an affordable, dispatchable form of electricity. TVA generates more than 40 percent of its electricity from nuclear power, and is recognized as a national leader in nuclear power with the third largest nuclear fleet in the U.S. Read more
DOE Seeking Private Partnership Interest for Nuclear Energy Demonstrations
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), along with Battelle Energy Alliance, the managing and operating contractor for DOE’s Idaho National Laboratory (INL), are seeking Expressions of Interest from industry stakeholders regarding a potential multi-phase demonstration program for innovative uses of nuclear energy with the National Reactor Innovation Center (NRIC) and the Crosscutting Technology Development Integrated Energy Systems program in DOE’s Office of Nuclear Energy. E&E News: Dominion wins approval for 20-year reactor extension
Although we sadly lost the final nuclear reactor at Indian Point in New York this month, there was great news out of Virginia that Dominion Energy Inc. can continue running the Surry Power Station for another 20 years. Surry generates 1,676-megawatts of clean, reliable nuclear power for Virginia and North Carolina consumers. Read more
