ClearPath announced two new additions to its policy team this week: Nick Lombardo as Senior Program Director of International Policy and Landon Stevens as Senior Program Director for the Electricity Sector.
Lombardo will lead ClearPath’s new international policy portfolio. He joins ClearPath from multinational conglomerate Tata Group, where he served as Senior Director of Global Corporate Affairs.
Stevens joins ClearPath from his position as Director of Policy and Advocacy at the nonprofit Conservative Energy Network and will lead ClearPath’s electricity sector research and policy portfolio
This week, the Senate Energy Committee examined the bipartisan Carbon Removal and Emissions Storage Technologies (CREST) Act sponsored by U.S. Sens. Susan Collins (R-ME) and Maria Cantwell (D-WA).
The CREST Act was introduced in the Senate in June by Senators Susan Collins (R-ME) and Maria Cantwell (D-WA).
After this hearing, the CREST Act will be able to move into the markup process in the new Congress.
What’s clear: A diverse set of high-quality CDR solutions is essential to removing carbon dioxide already in our atmosphere and affordably reducing emissions across the global economy.

3. Infrastructure year marches on
November 2022 marked one year since the enactment of the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), which made robust investments in energy demonstration projects.
The Department of Energy (DOE) has taken steps on a number of programs already.
But, applications have yet to be opened for the majority of programs, including the much-awaited Carbon Capture Hubs programs.
