Did you know the atomic weight of hydrogen is (1.008)? That’s why today, 10/08, is National Hydrogen Day!
1. American clean hydrogen: A tremendous export opportunity
As part of National Hydrogen Day, ClearPath released a new report focused on the export opportunity for decarbonized hydrogen, going in depth on big trends such as:
The EU and Japan’s clean hydrogen supply gaps;
Russia, and the Middle East’s efforts to dominate the market;
The competitive role the USA can play in exporting clean hydrogen; and
Emerging U.S. hydrogen hubs could meet both domestic and international demand.
Want more hydrogen? Earlier this year, DOE launched a Hydrogen Shot goal to drive down costs. This week, they announced nearly $8 million for 9 projects to reduce the cost of production and $20 million to demonstrate clean hydrogen production from nuclear power.
2. Navigating the global energy economy and markets
Congressional leaders and energy experts will be providing insights on navigating the global energy economy and markets at the Texas Energy Day event. Register here
What’s clear:
In 2019, America became a net energy exporter which has since slipped.
LNG, crude, clean hydrogen, advanced nuclear and other energy sources are big export opportunities for American energy producers.
Plug in: The Port of Corpus Christi, one of the nation’s leading energy export facilities is hosting the event along with sponsors including ClearPath.
Speakers will include Reps. Carol Miller (WV-3) … Michael Cloud (TX-27) … Henry Cuellar (TX-28) … Michael Burgess (TX-26) and Tony Gonzales (TX-23).
3. The unsexy but incredibly powerful key to fight climate change
Building lower carbon energy infrastructure, including long distance transmission lines, cleaner power plants and pipelines for low carbon fuels will require unprecedented construction rates.
X-energy released a 90-second video explaining their new Xe-100 reactor’s design and engineering.
5. $45M for natural gas & industrial CCUS projects
DOE announced a $45 million investment for 12 carbon capture and storage projects doing point-source capture for natural gas power and industrial facilities such as cement and steel.
