A portfolio of carbon capture and carbon management bills are getting a bipartisan push by a group of House members led by Reps. David McKinley (R-WV) and Marc Veasey (D-TX) to be included in any infrastructure package.
Plug in: The members highlighted key, bipartisan legislation that would help achieve investment in carbon capture deployment, such as:
SCALE Act, which finances the deployment of CO2 transport and storage infrastructure and boosts funding for the EPA to support permitting of storage projects.
ACCESS 45Q Act and CCUS Tax Credit Amendments Act, which provide a direct pay option and extend the commence construction date for the credit.
CATCH Act, which increases 45Q credit values and eliminates capture thresholds to expand the pool of potential projects.
Carbon Capture Modernization Act, which would improve the utility of the 48A tax credit and enable investment in capture technology to reduce emissions from the power sector.

Dozens of advanced nuclear reactors are under development around the world. Check out this primer the Nuclear Innovation Alliance released, focusing on reactors underway in the U.S. and Canada.
3. American LNG potential solution to Russian gas dependence
Virginia-based Venture Global LNG and PGNiG (Polish Oil and Gas Company) finalized an agreement under which PGNiG will purchase an additional 2 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Venture Global for 20 years.
Cargoes will be supplied from Venture Global’s Calcasieu Pass LNG and Plaquemines LNG export facilities, which Venture plans to install carbon capture equipment at.
What’s clear: LNG from the U.S. will not only diversify Poland’s energy mix but also decrease its carbon emissions. Plug in
4. Coming down the pipeline
The world’s largest direct air capture plant, called Orca, is on track to launch next Wednesday, September 8, and is expected to capture 4000 tons of CO₂ per year.
That’s all for this week. Have a great Labor Day weekend!
